This project focused on the event branding of Kyoorius Designyatra 2012, extending to visual identity, print and digital implementation, ideation and process conceptualisation of staging on-the-ground event graphics, and curating the exhibitions.
This event provides a platform to the design and creative community in India to meet, exchange ideas, share knowledge, and innovate. Majority of the work was in print; several brochures and books were created for the event, apart from documents and mailers. An Illustrators’ exhibition was held at the venue; this made it possible to explore avenues beyond print as well.
The Kyoorius Designyatra 2012 identity by Kay Khoo, is based on a centre dividing line sloped at a 17° angle. It was set in Engrez Sans, the official typeface for the event. Keeping up with the traditions of the past editions of the Designyatra, there was no predetermined colour scheme, nor preset housestyle; it was left to the personal expression of each individual designer, who had to keep in mind the Engrez Sans typeface with its 17° diagonals. Hence, the challenge was to take this identity forward and use the diagonal.
This project made one realise the importance of teamwork. This helped one grow and mature as a professional. Sharing this entire project with the design community and receiving valuable feedback, was one of the major highlights of this project. Besides event branding, this project also strengthened one’s understanding of events and event management in general. Design learning has no boundaries; there is a long way to go, a lot that has to be learnt, and much to get inspired by. |
