The Body Archives is a research-driven exploration of identity and body movement through Dance Movement Therapy (DMT). Grounded in embodiment theory, the project examines how personal and collective movements shape identity. Using DMT techniques like mirroring, kinesthetic empathy, and authentic movement, it uncovers embodied memories and their role in self-expression. Photography played a pivotal role in visualizing movement-based narratives. Through moving images, self-portraits, body cyanotypes, and movement diaries, the project captured the participants’ vulnerabilities and personal journeys. This process fostered deep engagement, emphasizing the therapeutic potential of visual representation. Rooted in extensive fieldwork and self-exploration, The Body Archives integrates artistic and therapeutic practices to create a living archive of embodied experiences. It offers insights into somatic research, movement analysis, and creative therapy, making it relevant for industries in performance studies, wellness, creative arts, and mental health.
