Hindware, one of India’s most renowned and established sanitaryware brands, is known for its diverse range of products, including water closets, urinals, washbasins, tiles, and faucets. In this project, I was entrusted with designing a collection of artistic washbasins. The design process began with a comprehensive analysis of existing washbasin products from various brands, focusing on identifying key design features and opportunities for differentiation. This was followed by stakeholder engagement, where insights were gathered from Hindware's marketing team, sales heads, architects, interior designers, dealers, store managers, and users, to understand essential design elements to incorporate. In-depth surface treatments and glaze development were explored to ensure both aesthetic appeal and compatibility with Hindware's production infrastructure. Form exploration was carefully balanced with manufacturing constraints, leading to innovative designs that could be seamlessly produced at scale. This project underscored the crucial role of design in the sanitaryware industry, demonstrating how creativity can be effectively integrated into mass production while addressing user needs and operational efficiency.
