Mountain rescue operations typically involve 3-4 teams, with all emergencies reported to the state-managed Red Cross, who delegates the task to the relevant rescue teams. In certain cases, Heli Austria is also alerted for air evacuation or paramedic support. The current workflow faces issues with inefficient communication across multiple, unstandardised channels, causing cognitive overload, errors, and delays. This project aims to improve the communication channels between the various teams involved in the rescue operation. It also seeks to explore the use of mountaineering gear, particularly e-textiles, to develop new safety standards and policies reflecting technological advancements. Timely access to incident details and team availability is crucial for enhancing rescue efficiency. By improving information flow, understanding accident types, and monitoring the status of individuals, the project aims to optimise coordination, shorten response times, and enhance team preparedness. Bergettung intends to streamline communication and analyse rescue data for better training and operational effectiveness.
