"Blooming Beyond the Bay," a graduation project sponsored by RATA Studio (Gurugram, India), features an innovative collection of one-of-a-kind beaded home decor accessories inspired by marine landscapes. The project combines glass beads and copper wire to create functional lighting pieces, offering a fresh approach to beadwork and crocheting. The collection celebrates handcrafted artistry, aligning with the vision of RATA’s founder, Pratiksha Tandon, to popularize beadwork. The project involved in-depth research into the craft of beadwork, customer insights from RATA’s clientele, and a global exploration of beadwork’s cultural significance. A hands-on approach to bead-weaving and material exploration allowed for the development of creative solutions to technical challenges while preserving the brand’s intricate aesthetic. Collaboration with artisans and documenting new processes and techniques formed an essential part of the project, which aims to inspire and expand the craftsmanship of beadwork.
