As transportation design evolves, there is a renewed interest in rail travel, emphasizing personalization, safety, and functionality. This project explores how thoughtful color, material, and finish (CMF) choices, along with strategic lighting elements, can enhance the passenger experience in AC Sleeper Coaches of Indian Railways. Extensive user research and immersion journeys across multiple states helped identify key needs, such as improving the sense of space and fostering a feeling of belonging. Lighting was explored as a solution to create a sense of delight, community, and personalization, even in public transport. By addressing these factors, the project aims to redefine the future of rail interiors, ensuring a more engaging and user-centric experience.
