This project integrates research, public art, and education to reimagine Kochi’s local history. Phase one, part of the Mayor of Kochi Design Fellowship, involved studying selected municipal wards, leading to curated heritage routes and interactive guided tours for schoolchildren (ages 8–10).
Phase two transformed this research into a DocuFiction book, combining historical records with speculative storytelling through photography, found images, and archival materials. This approach makes history more engaging and accessible.
The project demonstrates expertise in research-based design, participatory pedagogy, and creative storytelling, offering valuable skills for industries in urban development, cultural heritage, publishing, and education. It presents a fresh methodology for community engagement, place-making, and historical documentation, making it highly relevant for organizations focused on culture, design, and education.
By merging academia, public engagement, and artistic expression, this project redefines how communities interact with their history.
