Como Toys, which previously sold only to international markets, recently expanded to Amazon India, leading to a rise in demand. This created an opportunity to improve the manufacturing process by reducing production time while keeping product quality high. As the first design student involved in their production, the focus was on finding the best mould material for microwave heating to speed up manufacturing. The project began with an in-depth study of microwave heating, material interactions, and existing manufacturing methods. Research included studying industries using microwave sintering, reading papers, and consulting with key stakeholders like the founder, production manager, and mould artist. Various materials were tested for their response to microwave heating, and after continuous research, testing, and feedback, two promising materials were identified. This project applied engineering and design knowledge to improve efficiency while maintaining quality.
