The "Mumbai Star" set design project, part of The Dragon Rose Project, was a dynamic and adaptable visual experience crafted for a musical theatre performance in Japan. This performance, which told the story of a struggling Indian artist in Mumbai, was showcased across 21 venues within 28 days. The set design integrated various artistic elements, including acting, dance choreography, costume design, lighting, and scriptwriting to enhance the storytelling. To accommodate the diverse stage sizes and enable continuous dancer movement, the set was designed with flexibility in mind. Prototyping took place in Japan, using locally sourced materials for a quickly assembled and disassembled set. This streamlined production process ensured efficient logistics and fostered collaboration. The second iteration of the set evolved to capture the essence of Mumbai, aligning with the narrative and cultural exchange between India and Japan, while offering audiences an immersive journey through dreams, music, and dance.
