Radium Dada is a dark comedy animated short centered on Radheshyam Dandpatt, a.k.a. Radium Dada—Baunsuli’s self-proclaimed Pret Doctor. Running a thriving Pret Mukti Kendra, he ‘cures’ ailments with absurd exorcism rituals, from bizarre chants to downright laughable remedies. His antics clash with Dr. Rout, a staunch medical professional running the government clinic opposite him, leading to an ongoing battle between superstition and science.
The film employs exaggerated character animation, expressive squash-and-stretch, and slapstick humor to heighten Radium’s absurdity. Contrasting visual styles enhance the tension—Radium’s world is vibrant and theatrical, while Dr. Rout’s clinic is grounded and sterile. As their rivalry peaks, the unexpected closure of Radium’s clinic leaves the town in eerie silence. Radium Dada blends satire, folklore, and stylized animation to explore belief, deception, and the quirks of small-town faith.
