Set in the 1960s-70s, when letter writing was the main form of communication, this story revolves around Jayanti, Roma, and Gojen, who meet at a wedding and form a bond. Roma, a ten-year-old girl, is literate and loves receiving letters. Jayanti and Gojen, however, are illiterate. Roma innocently asks them to write her letters after they return home, leading to a journey of self-discovery and growth. The term “Borno,” meaning both “class” and “alphabet” in Assamese, reflects the contrast in their literacy and social standing, exploring themes of education, friendship, and the power of written words.
