This is a client project which is part of the Humane Collective. The collection looks to capture the free spirit of a Nomad exploring the vast adventures of the natural world. This storytelling seeks to embody the testaments, skills and knowledge of native people of small communities and the ingenuity in their clothing. It strives to bring value and self-reliance to them through these collaborations. There is a space in the Indian market for natural, ethical, handmade clothing that can facilitate high functionality and contemporary taste. This will involve exploring development possibilities in the area of a sustainable apparel line made from natural fibres and resources. This then will be incorporated with native and simple adaptive techniques from local communities of Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. The designers are to engineer designs which can be easily adopted by small clusters of artisans/tailors remotely. This is to ease the production drawbacks that might occur when clusters far off are working together in times of unforeseeable shutdowns or such. The brand seeks to work up from a grassroot level to identify, understand and analyse different natural fibres from local sources. This collection is an endeavour to amalgamate the intelligence of traditional attires with a contemporary design language and sensibility.
