This project traces the author's exploration of an inquiry: " How might we exist as Posthumanists?" It begins by delving into a comprehensive understanding of posthumanism, postdualism, binary thinking, and gradually narrows its focus to Identity in a domestic environment. The Project aims to draw attention to the social constructs and structures that shape our society, particularly their impact on our sense of identity. Through the use of para-functional design, satirical exaggeration, and the presentation of alternative visions of our current reality, the project critically examines the socio-cultural construct of identity within the context of a domestic home space.
In a society, spaces and identity are inter-connected. Spaces are not separate from us but are intricately intertwined with our agency, choice and sense of self. Identity is spatially situated and performed. It is not only achieved through identification with a group of people with a common outlook , but also through movements and behaviors performed repetitively in various spaces. In a home setting, toilet is a sanctuary escape. An escape from the cacophony of voices and social constructs of the society. The author situates and investigates the speculation in a toilet-space of a home setting where a family, a basic unit of the society resides.
