Remidio has various portable eye health screening and digital documentation products. Remidio’s Anterior Imaging Module (AIM) is a device that converts any ordinary slit lamp into a high-end photo slit lamp. This device, when first was launched in the year 2018, performed really well in the market but moving forward through 2019 to 2023 (current) the graph went down. Considering this downfall Remidio felt the need to understand and solve the same. This is when I was on boarded as they were looking for someone who could be unbiased and open minded through out the project. My brief included detailed exploration of the market and suggesting solutions with the help of design as a tool.
The project initiated with understanding the identity, philosophy of the brand, its ideologies and principles. This was followed by research, both Primary and Secondary. The secondary research involved understanding of the market, existing products and competitors. An intense primary research involved observation, one to one interaction with all the stakeholders involved. The most challenging part of this was understanding and interacting with the doctors(ophthalmologists). Research resulted into Insights, which further were grouped into different categories depending on the fields they belonged.
Along with research, the device usage data was also taken into consideration to understand the usage trend and user behaviour. Device usage data refers to the backend data on the server, consisting of the details regarding the when and where was the device used. Synthesis of this data and numbers gave rise to few conclusions. These conclusions were then cross checked with the research insights. Moving forward, the insights - backed up with numbers and data were further narrowed down to possible design solutions.
