The project with Rare & Basics, a brand under Apparel Group UAE, offered the student an in-depth exploration of the retail industry, focusing on design, production, and brand positioning in the Indian market. The project began with aligning the brand’s philosophy with consumer lifestyle trends, followed by comprehensive market and trend analysis to assess consumer preferences. Drawing inspiration from runway trends, the student developed a design strategy for the upcoming season, incorporating techniques such as cutwork, tie and dye, and fabric printing. The outcome was a series of collections that blended creative design with practical applications. This experience provided valuable insights into how design can influence a brand’s presence in a competitive retail environment, enhancing the student’s understanding of the intersection between fashion creativity and commercial viability.
