Set in the North Malabar region of Kerala, Varambu follows a young boy as he prepares for his first Theyyam performance under his father’s guidance. While Theyyam grants him divine status during the ritual, his everyday life is starkly different—he faces discrimination and oppression due to the rigid caste system. The contrast between these two identities troubles him, making him question the unfairness of society. As he navigates this internal conflict, he is forced to decide—should he stay silent and accept the system or challenge it? Through his journey, Varambu explores resilience, identity, and the fight for dignity in a deeply hierarchical world. The film highlights the hypocrisy of social structures and portrays the boy’s struggle to break free from them.
