Narrative Building through animations is a user-centred project which uses storytelling and principles of animation to create micro-interactions which ameliorate the experience of using the digital product (in this case: enterprise SaaS product). Design research methods on user experience and current market trends, along with competitor analysis, were conducted to understand how animation and micro-interactions are used in Enterprise SaaS products to help improve the user experience and how to incorporate them into an existing product while keeping the brand narrative intact. Micro-interactions add visual effects to UI elements and components to make them interactive. This interactivity helps guide users through a website or digital product while creating an immersive and enjoyable user experience. This makes it easier for the user to navigate the product and improves the user journey. Creating animation for a rapidly evolving Enterprise product uncovered a fresh set of hurdles and rules which needed to be clarified for the environment of traditional 2D animation. Not only the animations had to align with the already established design language, but they also had to be created and exported in a manner which would make it easier for the developers to understand and replicate themselves. The project was initiated as a part of an internship with Darwinbox - New age HR management software. Numerous new learnings were uncovered by conducting primary and secondary studies to determine how and where animations are utilized in online products and condensing the research to HRMS Saas products. Understanding the product, ideating and designing numerous iterations for various animations (macro animations and micro animations) that can be incorporated within the software. Understanding how animation serves and operates in the context of HRMS SaaS-based products and how animation intertwines with the medium of code.
