‘Silence In the Mayhem’, focuses on the craft revival intervention for the Kenjakura cluster, emphasizing the importance of integrated research to preserve and reflect the cluster's original identity. Traditional crafts and textiles are integral to India’s design identity, but modern categorization and market demands often lead to a misrepresentation of their true essence. This project highlights how misinformed narratives distort the craft's identity, alienating it from its traditional roots and cultural significance. By delving into the historical, cultural, and indigenous aspects of the craft, the intervention aims to reposition Kenjakura’s textiles, focusing on the original practices and skills that make them unique. It advocates for sustainable solutions that integrate traditional crafts with contemporary design, ensuring both cultural preservation and modern relevance. The project redefines the value of crafts by shifting perspectives toward a deeper understanding of their legacy.
