As a part of the student's graduation project at Nutanix, the student Risha Ray got a chance to work on end-user experience optimization and enhancement which requires a deep dive into the existing product portfolio of the company to understand the problem statement thoroughly. The scope of this project is narrowed down to 'Templatization in Blue-
prints’ which is picked after evaluating against a range of factors such as the nature of the problem, Scope of Retail Domain Alignment, Level of Complexity and Business Importance. Nutanix has a design-first philosophy - "Design" and "Customer delight" is embedded in every step of their product cycle. Therefore, the aim is to improve the User Experience of a Blueprint developer and look into the aspects of how to make the Blueprint development process faster altogether. The project intends to expand the functionality of blueprints to make them more modular, accessible and extensible and identify ways to reduce the development time of blueprints. Post extensive primary and secondary research, the design solution implemented and tested was to integrate the Runbooks within the Blueprint development process. The outcome is a faster and more uncluttered user experience. Through the design solution, Nutanix becomes the first among its competitors to add Runbooks within Runbooks/workflows within workflows as well as Runbooks within blueprints.
