This document is a compact yet detailed description of the graduation project by Himanshu Singh who is pursuing his master’s degree at the National Institute of Design. The project was completed under the sponsorship and support of ALSORG Interiors India Pvt Ltd, Gurugram.
The brief was to develop a range of luxury interior lighting solutions like pendant lamps, chandeliers, wall sconces, floor lamps and table lamps etc by keeping the aesthetics of the brand intact. The objective of this design project is to align with brand design values and its strategies, to help in formulating of new design collections for the brand, so to display the same at national and international design events. The project intends to understand and absorb firm’s current working scenario as well as to identify project requirements, opportunities and feasibility in execution.
In my Initial days at Alsorg , material workshops showcased the artisans’ mastery in transforming raw elements into exquisite pieces. However, I also recognized the importance of balancing opulence with practicality, acknowledging project limitations such as time considerations. The research findings helped me understand the key components of luxury, psychology of luxury consumers and what goes in the aesthetically inclined lighting solutions.
Drawing from the research, overarching themes and concepts for the lighting collections are developed. Collaborations with artisans and material experts explore innovative combinations such as hand-blown glass, leather, metal finishes, and unconventional textures that amplify the luxury quotient. I engaged in a transformative journey under the guidance of my mentor Pravinsinh Solanki.
The project resulted in a curated collections of luxury lighting installations that seamlessly blend form, aesthetics, and light to create immersive artscapes within interior spaces. Also, the designs will challenge conventional notions of luxury lighting, elevating it to a form of artistic expression that transcends functional boundaries.
