We often exchange gifts during special occasions to express our gratitude and establish connections. Everyone is in search of the ideal gift keeping in mind the unique preferences of the receiver. A thoughtful gift would always be treasured and sustain the memory of that occasion forever. This project is focused on developing such sustainable gifting experiences in finest ceramic - porcelain. An attempt to establish emotional connect between the user and the product has been made through understanding the classic gifting preferences of millennials in India. This project provides two gifting solutions that actively involves users in a design process thus increasing their bond with the gift. A porcelain sculpting kit designed for true ceramic enthusiasts brings back the nostalgic memory of playing with clay.
The kit highlights features of unfired porcelain clay like softness, convenient recycling and easy sculpting. Second gifting solution aims at developing sense of appreciation for handmade porcelain products through a collection of gift worthy porcelain products. Material features of fired porcelain like whiteness, translucency and ability to capture the finest details are visible in this classic collection. Both the gifting solutions have been developed for handmade production based studios. Factors like manufacturing time, material consumption, optimal firing, smart labour, packaging and costing have been a crucial part while designing these solutions. The handmade look of these products makes every piece unique and develops a sense of appreciation for handmade products. A combination of emotion and material sustainability make these gifting solutions truly sustainable.
