The brief of the project was to design bedroom fitted furniture to go along with existing Sleek wardrobes. The primary focus of the project revolved around the increasing need for a more customized service where the consumers are expecting to be given the opportunity to shape the product they purchase.
The research findings helped her understand the reasons consumers opt for furniture tailor-made by the local carpenter over ready made furniture available in furniture stores. Eventually, mid research, she came to the conclusion that not only would the majority of consumers be willing to pay more for a customized product or service, they would also like to be actively involved in the process. So, she started working on a solution which gives high customization in a standardized manner to enable mass production.
Her final design outcome turned out to be a concept with a customized headboard, bed-frame and bedside table to perfectly fulfil the unique requirements of a bedroom space. While on the project, the market study formed a basis and gave her a direction to work in. The role & value of market study in the professional world became an important part of learning at Sleek.
