People travel around India to see its rich architectural heritage, diverse culture, unique wildlife, and a holistic wellness hub of the world. In today’s scenario, tourism has a significant role in India, from developing its economy to sharing its cultural values with people of various countries. Also, India has developed its infrastructure and facilities to a global level to attract foreign/domestic tourists and foster tourism. Traveling has become part of our lives. While traveling to different places to visit various tourist sites or travel for other pleasurable experiences, people always face issues that trouble their traveling experience due to several uncertain incidents in their journey. While traveling, the primary need for a tourist is commuting, and later comes the basic necessities such as hospitality services and security.
Also, under these basic needs, some desires such as spatial flexibility and physical vehicle experience need to be addressed to make their journey more promising and enjoyable. At present, we have level 2 & 3 autonomous vehicles in the market, and we are expected to have level 4 autonomous vehicles around the year 2035 as a commonly used vehicle and fully autonomous vehicles of level 5 by the year 2040-45. Level 4 autonomous vehicles will still require driver’s intervention but can be operated without driver’s interference in some areas where proper transportation infrastructure is available as per the vehicle’s need. As the autonomy of vehicles
increases, there will be less interference by human drivers, so the chances of vehicle accidents decreases, which supports tourist needs and desires while making the journey more comfortable.
