Sweven is an attempt to create surfaces for Yavi for their upcoming collections. Sweven means 'a vision' or 'a dream' in Old English. Done over a span of 6 months during the pandemic, the project not only aims at making surfaces for apparel for the label but also explores the new mode of work and life during the pandemic.
The project consists of 3 briefs - The eternal garden, floral prints for S/S22 inspired by the newfound love and appreciation for nature during the pandemic; The Gamcha Story - a collection of apparel made by repurposing the humble Gamcha using the technique of patchwork and Upcycled Surfaces - a collection of surfaces inspired by the concept of rebirth made from discarded fabric at Yavi. Techniques of patchwork, hand embroidery, machine embroidery, block printing and digital printing were used to create surfaces and apparel for Yavi which would be part of their S/S22 and A/W23 collections.
