My internship was done at Narsi & Associates. Founded by Mr. Narsi Kularia in 1986, the Narsi group is an interior turnkey fit-out service provider, PAN India. Narsi Group has gained reputation for providing a package of services ranging from concept to execution in furniture and interiors.
The process of development of the concept and the brief of the project was a long and tedious process. The base of the project revolved around smart furniture in other words in furniture with electric and technological advancements. The main objective of this furniture was to create an immersive living environment at home and how the furniture would adapt to the growing needs.
I wanted to create a design style which would be unique to my side and media table. The furniture made followed a minimalist modern and simple style with a sober character and elegant lines. It also included ideas from Chinoiserie style, designs of German Bauhaus and the Dutch De Stijl. Straight clean lines, intermingled with an occasional sensuous curve were used for their contemporary appeal. Tapered legs for a light and airy look, a matte PU finish and smooth surfaces made it the perfect complement for the family room. Use of royal-blue fabric colour was used to create an aura of sophistication.
The materials used for the furniture were MDF of ULDF-ultra light plain, beech Wood for its base frame and legs. A veneer was used to finish the table top, followed by finishes and fitment of all planned electrical & electronic items like a wireless charger, Bluetooth speakers, digital clock and various charging ports and points.
This six month of internship has been an eye-opening and a tough experience which has given me a better understanding and a hands on experience in the functioning of the industry.
