The project aimed to design an identity and packaging for a brand called Boombay that was seeking to launch into the market. Boombay is a sustainable condiments brand that takes great pains to source ingredients that have been sustainably farmed and even look out for endangered ingredients that we can revive.
The project started with deciding on a brand and design direction. It then blossomed into a full-fetched system for the labelling, which took inspiration from data visualization so that it did justice to the complexity behind the brand (without being too heavy for the consumer). A system was also devised for the shipping packaging, which used interchangeable inserts so that orders of different shapes and sizes of containers could be sent using the same packaging components and in the exact box sizes to reduce extra costs. Finally, a comprehensive brand guideline booklet was created for Boombay, including brand assets, personality and social media guidelines, so that it could be taken forward and used to educate others about the brand in the future.
