The need for these students to be able to create a balance of productive and free time requires a technology intervention to keep them aware and remind them to slow down by creating a routine which allows them to insert free time or break time in their daily routine. The device that sits at the convenience of their study desk to help them manage their personal self-study timeline throughout the day. It has been an area often overlooked or assumed to be of trivial concern to other generations. The part of low importance assigned to pushing teenagers to manage their own time has been a reason for poor mental health and lower motivation for achieving their personal (study) goals.
Creating a habitual downtime reminder technology for adolescents to shun prolonged and extensive cerebral activities and avoid mental fatigue, is an outcome of this project. The act of balancing their daily routine to avoid burnout is a starting point for addressing the ignored mental health space of these young children. Keeping a desktop device that pursues them to create and follow a schedule with timely breaks will help them prolong their cerebral capabilities as they stay aware of how much time is needed v/s how much time they are actually investing in self-study. This is a step towards empowering students to manage their time, be disciplined, and overcome emotional break points as they push themselves to achieve their personal study goals.
