Two children, Bhagya and Senthil, meet two goats as they return home for vacation from their school. They were very excited about the preparations for the temple fest that their father was conducting that year. They immediately grew a bond with the two goats despite their grandmother’s explicit warnings not to. Their father bought the goats during the fest's preparation period. And one of them was marked for the ritual sacrifice as part of the fest. The children could eventually keep only the other goat. But in an unexpected turn of events, they go through an emotional turmoil as the fest comes closer. They can only watch helplessly as they finally part with both of these beloved goats. One of them gets attacked by wild dogs, which the community sees as a bad omen. The other has to be given for the ritual. The family also gets rid of the goat injured from the attack as the village sees it as bad luck to keep the goat that God rejected.
