Recently the Indian government announced its intent to make the country go all electric and launch zero fossil fuel-powered new vehicle sales by 2030. The Indian government has enough reasons to encourage the widespread use of renewable fuel in vehicles at the earliest. However, the real question is: Does the Indian consumer “want” to go electric? So, what should electric automakers do to make their vehicles more acceptable, even better desirable? How does one contextually adapt the electric vehicle for India, so that it becomes a success story like the adaptation of mobile phones in India, a rare phenomenon where the adaption of a new technology has been relatively fast compared to most other instances? These are some of the questions that come within the purview of this project.
