This project, developed for Akaaro, a Delhi-based design studio founded by Gaurav Jai Gupta, aimed to incorporate prints into the brand’s traditional woven textile collections. With the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, which significantly impacted operations and resources, the brand sought to innovate by using prints as a cost-effective alternative to woven fabrics while still offering an affordable product range. The project, originally intended for Spring/Summer 2021, was eventually released as a capsule collection for Spring/Summer 2022, after a two-year hiatus. The collection focused on ideating prints and silhouettes, ready for production once the situation stabilized. The transition from a highly integrated in-person workflow to remote working posed challenges, especially in communication, time management, and meeting deadlines. Despite these challenges, the project successfully navigated the evolving conditions and resulted in a modern collection combining contemporary prints with Akaaro’s signature craftsmanship.
