With the rising violence, pandemic, and disasters happening almost every day, everyone is facing the consequences. In the process of dealing with such scenarios, the purchases of comfort food have been increasing exponentially, this comfort food mostly comes in plastic packaging. The Central Pollution Control Board of India estimated 15342 Tonnes of plastic waste generated, 9205 Tonnes recycled and 6137 Tonnes uncollected and littered, causing us to eat, drink and breathe 70,000 plastic bits a year. Even after the government imposed many rules to eliminate all single use plastics from our country by 2022, the non segregation of dry and wet waste at the domestic level causes loss of resources for almost all the recycling companies.
This project aims to identify all the issues related to plastic waste. And find impactful interventions at the end of the project. Solving these issues will help reduce the increasing heights of landfills. It is time to change how we produce, consume and dispose of the plastic we use.
