The project was sponsored by Welspun, one of the globally leading textile companies. The project focuses on making bedding collections for the UK/US/European market. The project began by gaining an understanding of the sponsor, their market positioning, client, and competitors. The student also researched other home furnishing brands and worked on client-based projects for a better understanding of the design process. The first collection, 'Retouching the Impressions', is inspired by Vintage Textiles - 'Old is new again!'.
The student drew inspiration from the old blocks from India and developed a bedding collection for Spring- Summer 2022, using minimal aesthetic, comforting, and calming colours. The second collection, is 'From the Vault', inspired by Belarussian embroidery, an old traditional embroidery from Belarus. Taking the inspirations from the countryside, the palette favours brighter pastel tones, yellows, greys, and apricots. The collections are designed according to forecast trend and keeping the brand’s design aesthetic in mind.
