The design team of Walmart tasked the student to build a conversational interface for their pre-Purchase and Purchase journey as an experimental proposal. The project aims to strike a balance between the probable & possible future of Walmart. The task is to come up with a proposal pitch for the higher management in WG to develop a conversational commerce channel for shopping & define its key use cases. Conversational commerce is an area that is supposed to be explored through this project. Virtual assistants are already a part of the ecosystem through smartphones, smart speakers, etc. This project aims to use a conversational strategy to connect with the user & deliver a seamless experience. Exploring the use cases for which a conversational approach shall assist a user to not just make a purchase but make an informed decision during the shopping journey. The design team at Walmart Mexico wanted to dive into this area of user experience for the purchase journey as there are already existing conversational channels for customer support. The whole project is based on creating a framework of a conversational assistant that could be leveraged into various modalities in possible & probable futures. The available research on the Mexican audience is used to design this framework, which could later be generalized to suit other audiences.
