This project done was through AKFD and it explores the context of contemporary furniture design in India. The project focuses on developing a modular seating system for living spaces in modern Indian homes. The design process eliminates boundaries and stereotypes in order to understand how design is conceptualised and practiced in the furniture industry. Through this graduation project, the author seeks to address and answer her queries concerning her design practice, its context, and its degree of relevance. What does ‘furniture design’ mean in the Indian context; what does “making” mean in the modern world; and what can be the scope and impact of her practice as a furniture designer—these were some of the important concerns that she explored through this project.
