The project revolves around the design and illustration of five commercial books. The focus of the project was to transform the authors’ raw manuscripts of the books into successful book designs for commercial use. The first book was ‘Unearthed: An Environmental History of Independent India’, written by Meghaa Aggarwal. For this book, the designer was required to design the front and back cover, identify the different buckets of information from the manuscript and decipher how to present them engagingly. She also had to draw all the black and white illustrations for the inside pages, find typeface pairings for the book and create layout templates to demonstrate how the different elements such as illustrations, text boxes, and infographics come together in a functional and visually appealing way. Additionally, the internship included the design of four other books. Cover design for Sane Guruji’s autobiography ‘Shyamchi Aai’. Cover design and illustrations for ‘Get Moving!’, a fitness book by Shwetambari Shetty. Cover design for the zero-waste lifestyle book ‘Bare Necessities’ by Sahar Mansoor and the dingbats for the teen fiction book ‘Unfair’ by Rasil Ahuja.
