Through this project, research was done on a range of crafts globally. Craft explorations undertaken in Mozambique, South Africa, induced a curiosity to explore the history and development of crafts in India. Research was done keeping the requirements of the current society in mind. A brief analysis was done in order to understand the need for the center table in living rooms and to have an overview of the concerned market and consumers. After analysing, the data was set up to synthesise the project objectives. Later, the concepts were built in order to cover a niche for the luxury market in India. Upon identifying the concepts, consolidated design briefs were made for residential furniture. Due to the pandemic, the companies had to refurbish their consignment. Thereafter, focus was trained on local crafts and the concepts of Sankheda were mainly incorporated in the design. The designs were then visualised using a selected material. Technical drawings were prepared, followed by full-scale prototypes.
