This project aimed to establish communication between weavers and designers to achieve certain aesthetics and client appeal suited for the clientele. It’s still in a phase of self-recognition to establish a market known for its well-made handwoven menswear. The idea was not to base the collection solely on trend research but also to understand the target market, its customers and other menswear brands. Based on research and understanding of the brand (Raymond- The Story Re-spun), the student developed twenty fabric swatch samples in a weaving unit in Sakinaka. Few designs were selected from the developed swatches, and selected designs were woven after sourcing the yarn. After the developed fabric was checked in Raymond office for quality, it was sent to Kolkata. In Kolkata, the fabrics were tailored into the menswear range.
