Like any other city, Chennai too has a rich history and culture, many nooks and crannies to explore, and many stories to tell. In an age of directing google maps to show you where you are needed to be, what if something could show you places you could go to and discover or rediscover? A secret getaway spot there, or a beautiful historic building here. Chennai’s Roads Less Travelled is an initiative by Urban Design Collective to get people to talk about or share the popular and not-so-popular places in Chennai and inspire them to explore and discover more about their city through different lenses. Through this, UDC aims to nurture a love for the city they live in and foster a sense of ownership and accountability to the city. It will essentially be a series of trail maps that can inspire people to explore Chennai.
The objective is to research, question, develop and design potential interactive virtual experience methods for information communication and leisure, for different trail maps of Chennai. The objective is also to research and understand how physical and analogue media can be combined to create wholesome experiences for individuals.
