This project began with primary research involving a visit to IFB Points and other MBOs across Bengaluru, Chennai, and Kolkata. Interviews, store visits, visual data mapping, space and layout mapping, and technical drawings were done before the lockdown. Post the lockdown, the student covered focus group Interviews, research team responses, Google Forms, Zaltman Metaphor Elicitation Technique (projective methods), and participatory workshops through WhatsApp. Ultimately, the student came up with the actionable insights and spatial design directions. The second phase comprised mood boards, concepts, explorations, layouts, visitor flow, 3D renders, and the final outcome. Out of the three main concept directions in the brief—Supermarket, Technology, and NID Idea, the student mainly focused on the ‘Supermarket Theme’. Due to the pandemic, peer learning was missed as it could have helped the student grow as a team member and develop skills for the future.
