Gaming has been around and is now more accessible through mobile devices. Everyone has been part of a situation where they have been submerged in the world the game has created. That feeling comes from the inherent desire to play. As we grow up, play starts becoming complex and players require complex systems to stimulate the play. Games are the outcome of that. Video games are a billion-dollar business and have been for many years. With the revolution of mobile devices, games have become tremendously accessible. This change has just improved the video game industry and changed how people used to look at games. Every day, a new person becomes a gamer, which was difficult earlier! The face of the gamer has changed and it is an exciting time to be designing games for these new gamers! To understand the players, an activity-centered approach was adopted to study non-homogeneous people. This approach leads to an inquiry into what all actions/activities players intend to do in the game or before and after playing the games. Such an approach is more appropriate if the product/game is to be made for a global audience.
This project emphasizes business viability and market potential. This is a very important criterion for the organization. The entire market analysis is required along with mapping it to the player's needs. This leads to the opportunity areas which were further narrowed down by measuring the business impact. The game idea selected is a Word Search game, which is a classic word game. Players are familiar with this core game and will find it comfortable picking it up. Moreover, the game can be differentiated by adding meta layers that are not present in competition games, giving it an edge in terms of both business and player's needs.
