Indians have a strong association with flavours and fragrances. The project began by attempting to understand the Indian fragrance landscape through the research question- "Is the Indian consumer experimental with fragrances?" The final outcome: The Fragrance Café, is a place to create a dialogue regarding fragrances. The café is a permanent theatrical experience that encourages its audience to interact, understand, and explore fragrances. The main attraction of the cafe is fragranced beverages in an intimate and comfortable atmosphere. The narrative is that a familiar smell may take one back in time while an unfamiliar one may lead to a new experience. Unlike other senses, smell as a sense is very personal and unique to every person, yet certain fragrances may represent the liking of a group of individuals. The likability of the same fragrance may bring out similar or unique anecdotes with every person. It can be a point of conversation for thinking about the smells liked by someone else. The café would inspire people to think about the fragrances in their daily lives in a new light.
