Through this project, the student’s aim was to make a dobby-woven bed linen collection and to use print and embroidery in combination to make a table-linen collection. Following research on market study and trend study, an analysis was made to propose the right mood boards to be used as inspiration. The halt due to the lockdown redefined the project briefs and based on this situation, alterations were made to the project. The first task of developing a dobby-woven bedding collection was inspired by the classic video game Tetris; the intent was to showcase minimalism, which often associated with Zen and similar spiritual concepts. The second project collection on print and embroidery was based on the hope of a better tomorrow using the inspiring life of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, her garden being her favorite place and also the main inspiration for this collection. Every aspect of the project helped learn something new, right from translating the inspiration and the delicate balance of the designs to the final execution and validation of each design, creating an enriching journey of design learning.
