Art Installations for the Hidesign Flagship Store
Hidesign has begun updating their flagship store in Pondicherry to a novel take on storytelling. With this, they have built extended corridors on two floors on this three-storey building. These corridors have been built with the sole purpose of sharing the stories of Hidesign, its Heritage, and telling people about its core values. Through this project, the student also reveals his interest in sculptural art and design. By conducting primary and secondary research by going through Hidesign’s past literature and conversations with Dilip Kapur, the president of Hidesign, the student narrowed down on main narratives. With multiple rounds discussions, mood boarding, conceptualisation and ideation, the student was able to arrive at the desired and apt form for the narratives. These were sent into production after two rounds of prototyping to help decide the surfaces, materials, and finishes. This project also helped the student understand the processes and challenges he would encounter during production
