The project focused on a business concept whereby urban Indians are given better lifestyle options by providing them designed furniture on rent. Understanding design limitations and opportunities in the rental business was an exciting challenge. The main focus of the project was the millennial lifestyle of young people staying in apartments. In the concept stage, numerous manufacturing and rental business level constraints were challenges. Finalising a concept and working on design iterations happened, followed by reviews and discussions. The outcome is a bed that is designed from a rental point of view. It was challenging to make a prototype due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation. Workshops and company operations were shut during this period, and it was not easy to follow up with the prototyping work. Most companies started to operate on Work from Home (WFH) basis, and WFH furniture demands soared. This situation made the student rethink how her product could be used as a WFH solution for the current scenario.
