As we step into the 21st Century our movements and interaction have become more virtual than physical. Long hours of work with people mostly fixed at one spot in front of the screen has reduced their overall physical activity. The idea of taking short breaks during work has restricted options which more or less includes other passive activities like having coffee or cigarette breaks.
This not only causes mental fog and creative fatigue but also, over a long period, gives way to multiple health issues. Combating this issue requires us to reinvent not only how we structure our work culture but also how we interact with our everyday furniture.
This is where the thought of incorporating ‘play’ as a part of our daily furniture comes into the picture. Play is a low-risk and healthy idea of taking a break that helps build cognitive abilities, refresh the mind and body.
The project explores how play can be integrated with furniture that can be used during breaks or just for fun, any time of the day.
The design focal points followed through are : movement, play, modular structure, portability (for easy setup + shifting) and fun aesthetics.
