Given the current excess of visual media that is continually curated for sensational stimulation, it is easy to get caught up in a wave of misdirected images and its subsequent individual meanings. The project aims to bridge that gap by enabling individuals to generate visual voices for the self in the form of images, illustrations, and audiovisual mediums all under the umbrella of continual observation, critical thinking, empathy and journaling. The design process involves abstracting deep memories and experiences in the form of journal entries and visual expressions. The collective engagement resulted in the development of a toolkit that would empower its users to identify a path that would serve as a catharsis from suppressed past experiences. The project aims to reinforce the undeniable need for individuals to be more aware and in harmony with their own past in order to evolve and be more present in an ever-changing world. It also shows how one could turn to visual communication and expression as an ally in this journey.
