Indian weddings are about traditions and ceremonies. They are incomplete without exchanging gifts. An aesthetically pleasing and valuable gift is essential for a wedding occasion. Silver is extensively used for gifting purpose in Indian weddings because it is considered fortunate and auspicious, and is also associated with wealth. Ravissant is a silver luxury product design house targeting the elite and upper middle class in India and worldwide. The brand focuses on handcrafted luxury silverware products for personal use and gifting purposes.
Apart from high-range sterling silverware products the existing clientele also looks for lower price range products for affordable gifting purposes during weddings. Currently, the demand is fulfilled by the other brands in India. Ravissant saw this as an opportunity to launch 'Jackpot', its sub-brand that houses silver-plated products. The aim was to capture a larger market and support with a one-stop destination for clients who aim to buy affordable luxury.
The brand introduced glass as a material for the first time as part of its Ravissant's material palette. The project objective is to develop a handcrafted wedding gift collection with 'smart designs', which are production friendly, justifies Ravissant's design philosophy, and stays true to its design language. The project aims to create a range of affordable luxury home decor accessories which would fit the aspired clienteles gifting requirements. The collection celebrates glass as a material. The central theme of the collection revolves around nature's tropical plants. The project methodology includes primary research-target user group, brainstorming, trends in the wedding industry, creating mood boards, concept boards, colour, material and style boards for selected direction, conceptualization, sketching, prototyping and final collection.
