Ceramic_livelihood at "Parivartan"
The designer in this project worked for bringing in the change from desolation to prosperity, dormancy to involvement, and division to collaboration. The project weaves into the village consciousness an extra thread of firsthand experience with the material. Based on the understanding of social, cultural, political and psychological tenets of people and the environment, the system for a ceramic unit was developed. The functioning of the ceramic unit was based on the concept of the maker, material and machinery and by considering various aspects such as caste, the role of women in society, available livelihood opportunities, education policies, health care system, etc. The student organized a training programme- “Matti Par Charcha”, to motivate and train the people. The ceramic unit was set up so that the people in the village could learn and earn.
