This project focused on revitalising the handloom sector by adopting twenty clusters. The Maheshwar handloom sari cluster was identified for its hand-woven, lightweight saris. The project sought to develop a new range of products to expand the market of Maheshwari saris. The new product range would sell through various outlets so as to increase the market presence of the Maheshwar handloom cluster in India’s luxury and semi-luxury markets. The project outcomes comprised two collections of home furnishing products. The project reflects an in-depth understanding of local handlooms be it material, technique, infrastructure, system, their ecosystem, markets, and the weaver community.
