The current school syllabus and curriculum encompass generic and scientific subjects that help students to choose careers along medicine, technology, arts, and management. To nurture upcoming designers, it is necessary to inculcate design perspectives and awareness within the student community so as to identify and direct students with necessary skills to take up design as a profession. Public schools in India have students with immense creativity and they will largely benefit if design is introduced as a subject. Also, design as a subject would also favourably influence the students’ perspectives towards other common subjects they are being taught.
